Sticking with 3G?

Hello World! After months of Motorola Droid, I decided to hop on HTC bandwagon. Since, everyone always talks about Amazon's cheap price and fast service, I decided order mine there. I have used this phone for a month now, so I can finally tell you how great/bad it is.
First good things are...
- Slim Design
- Amazing HTC Sense
- Decent second generation Snapdragon (that allows me to web browse, navi, games, stocks, etc with no lag)
- 768? ram that I have no problem while I am on it.

and the bad...
- battery is not too bad, but could last longer
- Not the greatest display
- camera some what disappointing considering it is 8MP. Slow shutter.
- Speaker volume is almost non-existent.
- Reception sucks
- sometimes my voice echo on calls

But overall, it is definitely better than my first Droid. I am not sure, what use is the dual flash. At least I have two flashes to brighten up with the flash app.

Honestly 3g speed is decent. Area does matter, yet I have beaten iphone4 and thunderbolt at Verizon store.

So those who are not wanting to pay overpriced cost for 4g phones, yet can settle with 3g speed, go ahead and get Incredible 2. I bet you will like it.

Motorola Xoom vs Other Tablets

2010 was the year of tablets and smartphones. Apple's big success of sales for iPad was soon followed by others such as Samsung Galaxy Tab, Blackberry Playbook Tablet and soon Motorola Xoom will be making its appearance in the game. What Motorola Xoom distincts from other tablets is its High-Definition 10.1-inch screen, 32GB internal memory plus upto 32GB microSD removable memory powered by 1GHz Dual Core processor. Moreover 5MP camera with LED flash and 2MP front facing camera are nice touch. Inside the device is operated by Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, that supports the 3D expereince with latest application avaiable for use, Adobe Flash 10 player and Google eBooks. Also HDMI output that was not seen in Apple iPad is added in Motorola Xoom serviced by almight 4G LTE Verizon Wireless sounds too good to be true. The accessories that are availabe for this device are standard dock, speaker HD dock, wireless keyboard, and silicone cases porfolio that crushes it competitors.
Its expensive price at $599 with two year contract tells us that now they have finally joined the tablet industry. Undoubtfully, Motorola Xoom offers the best specs in the game right now.

HTC ThunderBolt Launch Date

It was reported that the first LTE handset from Verizon Wireless HTC ThunderBolt, may be launched on March 4th according to the source. This 4G handset will still keep the same $29.99 for unlimited data plan, however those areas where LTE coverage is not suppported will use data as 3G service. It may be a smart idea to get this device early to keep the $29.99 data plan before Verizon Wireless raises their 4G data price after LTE coverage covers majority states. HTC ThunderBolt supports 4.3-inch touch screen powered by 1GHZ Snapdragon processor, 8MP camera with dual-LED flash and wrapped around aluminum body. Also, this is Verizon's first handset with 1.3MP front facing camera.
How would they actually compete on their network against other 4G devices on other carriers? We will have to wait and see.

Parcels Application for Android

If you are one of those people, who are waiting for their package and keeps hitting the refresh button with a tracking number page every 10 minutes, then look into this application called Parcels. Especially people who run business that deals with a lot of shipping and handling andn such, Parcels applicatino notifies the users when the pacakge arrives and auto refreshes itself. I used this application myself, while anxiously waiting for my girlfriend's gift on time for Valentines. Also, instead of keep putting in your tracking number, you can save each tracking number and check the status right then, without going through ten to twenty digit numbers everytime.

Chase Mobile App for Android

When I first heard about iPhone application for Chase Bank, I was amazed at QuickDepsoit feature which allows a desposit by taking a picture of the deposit check. Looks like the Chase Mobile application is finally out for androids too. some users are complaining that the QuickDeposit does not work, however there are also many who seemed to using QuickDeposit fine. The End of Samsung Galaxy Fascinate

Samsung Galaxy had a good run in all carriers. Even though, the users who swore themselves not to get Samsung products ever again due to delayed software updates and problems here and there, the company itself had a successful year. With the hypes of Samsung Galaxy Two verison in the air, Verizon Wireless finally took out Samsung Fasinate off of the rebate form which we can only guess, the next version of Fasinate. Starting tomorrow, Verizon Wireless will launch their first 4G phone, HTC Thunderbolt. If you are one of those who are looking to buy 3G smartphones, wait a day because any phones that you get today will be outdated tomorrow.

Anyways if you are getting the phone to support Hopeline, you should feel proud. If not, then it is just one ugly color phone. LG VL600 and Pantech UML290 4G USB Modem Review

As Verizon promised, 4G LTE is here. Not quite here yet, but it is here. Verizon Wireless introduced their first 4G USB Modem by LG VL600 and Pantech UML290 in December just when the Christmas spirit is around the corner. Both models have backwards comaptible to 3G, LED service status indicator and support Windows Vista, XP, and 7. Their 4G is claimed to be 10 times faster than 3G slow modems, but it had to be this way soon. 4G brings us 5-12 Mps on the chart which is faster than their competitors like AT&T and T-Mobile maxes out at 7 Mps. Monthly plan rate is same as 3G. $50 and $100/ month will get you 5 and 10 GB, or you can also go with the prepaid plan. As Big Red put it, that is 6 second mp3, and 5 minute video downloads. Each deviec is $99.99 after the mail in rebate, but the holiday is in season you might be seeing these items in Verizon Wireless Christmas deal soon.

LG Cosmos Touch Review

Even though we have a lot of touch phones that are in smartphone category, LG once again is pusing feature phone line up with Cosmos Touch. The design is like the first Cosmos, but Cosmos Touch is nicer than previous model in many ways. First, the touch screen is a nice add to his phone. It might bring back memories of LG Dare, but touch screen has a very nice feel to it. By no means it is not Droid fast or Samsung Galaxy Fascinate like, but it does the job. You can drag menu items to have a small widget in the background which is also another nice add to the phone. The keyboard has improved from first Cosmos which we hated. The keypads are now bigger and flat, that you can press with finger instead of your nails.
Overall, we recommand this phone to young text users who do not want to be left out with the trend of touch screen.

Google Chrome to Phone application

Another good news to Android owners other than new games. For those who uses Google Chrome web brower at home, can now use Google Chrome to phone application to make your web browsing experience on your phone pleasant. Out of the application, you can share links, maps, phone number and text between your phone and your computer. Well, I guess Android already supports Google map gps on the phone anyways, but it is just another convenient application. You can also link your history to see the list of web browingi history. You are require to download the Chrom ebrowser extenion on your computer to have these stuff work.

Tips on Spaghetti Marshmallow Star Ship

Angry Birds Seasons Finally Out

After you have beaten all levels of Angry bird, you might wanna check out Spaghetti Marshmallow game by Android Market. This author has been hooked on to this game for weeks now. The game is as simple as connecting lines and dots instead you get uncooked spaghetti and Marshmallows. Basically, you get to build certain types of structures to acheive its stage goal. It may sound easy, but as you move onto higher levels, it takes hours and days to build the perfect shape that moves you on to the next level. The hardest stages so far were level 9 (Friggin frogs)and level 13 (Scarecrow).
The author is now stuck on level 14 (Balance carefully) for past three days.
Please let me know any tips if you have already passed that stage!!!
I will also post tips on any prior levels that you guys need help on.

LG Vortex and Comos Touch

We can tell that LG is finally headed in the right direction. LG Vortex which looks to be a sollid device, gives you Android 2.2, 800mhz, 3.2mp camera, swype and all the other goodies. The extra 200mhz gives you a better performance speed and also better touch screen feel than their previous Ally model.
The Cosmos Touch on the other hand is offered in feature phone category. The slide qwerty keyboard buttons are a lot bigger and nicer in quality than previous Cosmos. The 1.8mp camera is worse than Octane(3.2mp), but who cares about the camera nowdays.
In addition, one more touch screen device to feature phone line up is what LG really needed to do to step up from their competitors. As far as their battery life? Hopefully not so horrible.

Some have managed to pick up White Samsung Fascinate devices, which looks incredibly appealing in style.

Blackberry Internet Service down AGAIN!

Sorry, if i did not update you guys as often as i should. It's been a very busy month for me, as Christmas day is getting near.
Looks like RIM is having a very busy month too, with their sales of Blackberry Curve, Storm and Tour. Before, we get to try out new device, BIS is down once again. I have been having some issues with Verizon itself, and decide to make a phone call to customer service.
Talk to a customer Service Rep named Jordan, in Irvine customer service center. When I asked for one day credit of my data package service, my request was ignored, due to an issue being related to Rim company not Verizon Wireless itself. However, I complained that this has been happening too often, and i informed Jordan, that I am paying Verizon a bill, not Blackberry. She put me on a hold for about a minute and decided to credit me back two days worth of service($1.98).
I know it's not much of a credit. But why not make a quick phone call to let them know that what you are going through. While the company is charging pennies and dimes for $1.99/Mb charges on customers' bill secretly, it's good to have my money back for what they have failed to do for me.

Yes, the new Blackberry Curve will finally lose the trackball, instead gain a trackpad, 2.0 mega-pixel camera, and Wi-Fi. So everyone who are sick of replacing their phones due to a trackball failure could look into the new curve 8530. Also, Rim will offer two different colors for Verizon, black and violet as their pick.

The release date for the device is Nov, 20th, which is this Friday. Let's hope that Verizon keep their promise this time.

Blackberry Down!

Don't freak out. It's not just your blackberry. My blackberry stopped receiving emails and web browsing.

BGR reported that 75-80% of Blackberry users regardless of carriers, are not having the service to various application, web browsing and emails. Due to non-working BIS (Blackberry Internet Service), many users are experiencing no blackberry day since yesterday.

What's going on RIM? Maybe, it is time for us to get a discount on our upcoming bill.

update: BIS issue was resolved. If your blackberry is still not working, try pulling the battery out of the phone and put it back on and power on. That did the trick for me.

Blackberry Essex Review

i know, it has been less than a month since Storm 2 came out. Verizon sure knows how to get everyone excited with their new PDA line up.

I was browsing in the morning and happened to see the new Tour 2, Essex overview. Seems like someone was lucky enough to get his hand on new Tour already.

The video shows that Tour and Tour 2 is almost identical in specification, except the trackpad, upgraded internal memory and wi-fi capability on Tour 2. Enjoy!

What Happens if I used to have enV touch?

For those, who always had your enV Touch do not need to worry about the phone being categorized in Enhanced Multimedia. You will continue to keep your phone without $10 data charge.

However, if you do a quick esn change to something else, and back to enV Touch again, it will automatically be added. Insurance claim for a lost phone could also mean $10 data. Maybe, a call to Verizon customer service might do the trick, if you happen to meet a nice rep.

Oh well, $0.33 a day is really not that bad. Otherwise, enV 3, Versa or Alias 2 could be your alternative choice.

As of 12am in EST, Verizon Wireless released the Motorola Droid. The price is $199.99 after the mail in rebate as expected. All the specs and features are available right now on VZW website.

When you are reviewing the phone at the web site, read over the capabilities tap. It states that,

VZW raises ETF

If you are wondering why Verizon would raise the Early Termination Fee to $350, here is why. Some Verizon customers took BOGO deals in exchange of keeping two lines of service, but ended up canceling one of the lines, and selling one of the devices to make a little profit themselves.
BOGO customers figured that PDA devices like Blackberry Storm and Tour still makes profit, even after paying for ETF.
In return, Verizon now raised the ETF to $350 on premium devices such as PDAs, smartphones, netbooks, in order to prevent anymore future loss. According to Verizon, $350 ETF will take an effect on Nov 15, to customers signing up for a new contract.
Also, the price will drop by $10 every month, instead of $5.

You know, at least once in life time, you get lost out of no where. Swearing at yourself for not having the navigation. But still not sure, if you should download VZ-Navigator under browse/download section.

Well, Verizon is offering a free trial on VZ-Navigator for a month. Make sure to know when your 30 day is up to prevent any unnecessary charges. Simply, use it and delete it after a month, if you decided not to keep it. Yes, you still have to pay for $1.99/MB charges for downloading, but $10 worth of navigation for free alone is worth paying for one time download.

Do not get yourself lost! At least for a month...

Env Touch = Enhanced Multimedia?

Do you remember when Samsung Rouge came out? Verizon categorized the phone as Enhanced Multimedia which required a minimum of $9.99 data feature. Many heads turned toward to LG enV Touch, that did not require such a feature.

However, this is about to change. Those who are thinking about signing up a new contract with enV Touch, will require a mandatory data of $9.99, or connect/premium plan, since Verizon decided to categorized enV Touch as Enhanced Multimedia staring Nov 8th, this coming Sunday.

This could be a bad news to the customers who were waiting for the phone price to be dropped. But if you get it before Sunday, at least you can save yourself $240 on data cost for two-year contract.

Comparison of Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Eris and other Android devices

1. Application.
When there are updated software, the Droid will show notifications and you simply download them.
The Droid will notify you
-when voice mails, emails and instant messages arrive.
- WI-FI network is available.
- Android application updates are available from Google.
Also, some apps and widgets are available for free which includes:
- weather channel, My Space Mobile, Facebook, various CNN widgets.

How to save on cell phone bill

Many Verizon customers are concerned about their monthly plan. Many ask if they could switch their plan to the lowest one there. However, what many people do not realize is that, knowing the average monthly minutes you and your family use and adding appropriate data feature/plan could actually save you more money in a long run. Also checking for overages on voice and data every month will help you analyze, which is the best way to save money when paying bill.

1. Voice plan: Many Verizon users are not aware of how many minutes they average monthly. If you sign into My Verizon, you can view My Bill from as far as 6month ago. Viewing these bills and calculating the average of minutes will help you pick a better plan.
A. Friends & Family: This is a great feature to save minutes for you and your family. On a Nationwide plan, there is a feature called Friends & Family. This does not apply to all Verizon plans, however, Individual line of 900 minutes or higher and family plan for 1400 minutes or higher could take an advantage of this feature. As for an individual plan you can add up to 5 non-Verizon numbers, and for family plan up to 10 non-Verizon numbers for free(they are counted as mobile to mobile calling, once they are added to your list). This is similar to My Fav from T-mobile except for Verizon you get to switch numbers everyday, not to mention Domestic landlines and any wireless numbers are included(even 1800 #s could be added).
For example, if you are on 2100 nationwide plan, but currently averaging 1500-1600 minutes on family plan, take an advantage of Friends & family and add 10 non-Verizon numbers that you and your family talk to the most. It could possibly bring you minutes down to 1400 or less, and save you money by switching to a lower minute plan. Any 411 calls and 900 numbers are excluded from this list.
B. International calling: Fortunately, Verizon has blocked the international calling by default to prevent any international calling charges. You can still make international calls by adding international dial allowed feature. However, always know that international calls will empty your wallet out easily. I have seen so many Verizon customers make calls out to foreign country not knowing that they get charged per minute use. If you are one of these customers, please add international value plan ($3.99/ month) which will only cost you a few cents per minute depending on different countries. Also, after adding this feature check the cost per minute for your country (Charge rates on international calling landline and cell phone are different) or call using an international calling card.

2. Data plan: Data plan includes everything that voice does not. Data could be text/picture/video message, Mobile web MB usage, downloading games/ringtones/pictures. I am sure a lot of customers are more aware of these data charges than before, but still many gets lost looking at Verizon bill data section.
A. Mobile web charge: Even going on mobile web without downloading anything, could cost you $1.99/ MB. So, if you accidently logged into mobile web for a second or two, you bet you will see $1.99/mb on your next bill. You can block the mobile web to reduce the charges.
Also, teenagers who uses mobile web to download free demo games, will still get charged for mobile web (game itself may be free, but you are still using mobile web to get connected downloading the game). Mobile gamers, who download subscription games will charge you monthly, even after downloading the game, so always know what you are downloading.
However, if you use mobile web frequently, you are better off adding data packages to your service. Verizon data package of $9.99 will give you 25MB, and $19.99 for 75MB. If you are passing 75MB range, you may want to think about using a PDA mobile device, which allows you unlimited data for $29.99/ month and also provide a better option of web browsing and email services.
B. Text/picture/video message: Verizon customers without text plan/feature are charged $.20/ text, and $.25/ picture and video message. Review your Verizon bill and calculate your average text per month and see which message feature is suitable for you. The package rates from $5(250 messages), $10(unlimited mobile to mobile, and 500 additional message), $15(unlimited mobile to mobile, and 1500 messages), $20(unlimited mobile to mobile and 5000 messages). Also, you can switch your basic plan to select plan, in order to have unlimited messages to any network($20 more for individual plan and $30 more for family plan).
C. Instant messages(AIM, Yahoo, and Messenger): This is another service that could empty your wallet. Remember, every IM message you send/receive is counted as one text.

Verizon Prepaid cell phone. Deal or no deal?

While there are high-end phones such as Blackberry, Samsung Omnia II, HTC and upcoming android phones, getting cell phone user's attention on the internet, there may be other phones that you might be interested in. For those of you, who do not want to pay $10~30 on data plan, and only use cell phones for talking, here is a good deal for you talkers.
Some people are already aware of that the prepaid cell phones can be activated on postpaid plans through my verizon service, once you are registered. Right now, Target has dropped their price on prepaid phones. The money you can spend for prepaid phones are as cheap as $15 for Samsung U-350 also known as Smooth, and $40 for LG VX-5500. Especially, for Samsung Smooth at $15 is almost free considering that when getting with the contract, the tax off of the original price of the phone is mid $13.
If you are not a big fan of data service, pick up these phones at the nearest Target. It will be a good replacement phone without signing up another two-year contract.
Both smooth and VX-5500 support bluetooth capability, camera and speaker phone.
This prepaid cell phone deal may go on until the end of October, 2009.

For those of you, who are thinking about upgrading or signing up a new contract, may want to check the Verizon Wireless website regularly. The prices of the phones are dropping day by day. The price LG enV Touch was $179.99 after the online discount about a few weeks ago. Now the price has gone down to $99.99 (even cheaper if you have a NE2 or VIP discount). That's cheaper than an enV 3 price!
Also there is a benefit of purchasing the phone online, because the price is already after the mail-in rebate price and you have the option to pay for those charges on your bill. So start looking for the deals on the phone you are looking into get.

BB Tour Trackball problem?

Verizon covers this problem under their manufcature warranty, so you may run to the nearest store to get a replacement phone. Also those who are still thinking about getting the phone, you should check for the green dotted sticker on the barcode label to stay on the safe side of these trackball problems.

No deal for Verizon yet

BusinessWeek in April reported hearing from two sources "familiar with the matter" that Apple was working with Verizon on two new iPhones, which could be available as soon as this summer. This would be great news for Verizon customers unwilling to switch to AT&T, the exclusive U.S. carrier for the iPhone.

Our thoughts? Not happening -- not anytime soon, at least. Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg told the Wall Street Journal he expects Apple to consider sharing the iPhone with Verizon in 2010 -- when Verizon begins deploying its fourth-generation network.

If Apple is indeed interested in working with Verizon, there is no incentive to make this announcement in mid-2009 -- especially when Apple can stretch out the negotiations to shake more money out of its carrier partners. Also, historically Apple does not enjoy making announcements about products until they are finalized.

Also, Apple said in late April it has no plans to change its exclusive relationship with AT&T. Flip-flopping on that statement about six weeks later would make that a blatant lie, wouldn't it? If any deal happens between Verizon and Apple, we expect it to happen no sooner than 2010.

Verizon Dumps CDMA?

Just a few months removed from rumors that Vodafone would offload its stake in Verizon Wireless altogether, the two networks have announced that they'll share a common selection for their fourth-generation data networks: Long-Term Evolution. Endorsed by the 3GPP as the official way to burn wireless rubber in the next few years, LTE is a progression of GSM's UMTS platform, making it an ironic choice for CDMA stalwart Verizon and a huge blow for the CDMA Development Group's competing UMB standard. It seems that the unusual move was influenced by the fact that the sister networks -- two of the world's largest -- should probably enjoy some semblance of technological synergy if they're going to carry on their blissful matrimony for the foreseeable future, with Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg saying the company has been looking for "stability" in the relationship. Whatever the case, don't throw away that brand spanking new VX8550 or anything rash like that -- the companies aren't looking to roll anything out for another three or four years.

The New Blackberry Tour is here!

The BlackBerry Tour 9630, the first major BlackBerry release from Research In Motion (RIM) this summer, is expected to land on two major U.S. carriers' networks within roughly the same week.

According to a promotional graphic posted on popular gadget blog Boy Genius Report, Verizon Wireless is planning to release the BlackBerry Tour on July 12. If that's the case, Verizon will be the first to hit the market with the awaited BlackBerry Tour, beating out Canadian carrier Telus' street date of July 15.

The same advertisement indicates pricing for the 3G BlackBerry Tour will start at $199.99 from Verizon.

Just eight days after the Tour launches on Verizon, Sprint is expected to release its version of the awaited smartphone.

According to blog Inside Sprint Now, the BlackBerry Tour is expected to be available on Sprint's 3G network come July 20. While Sprint hasn't confirmed the date, it's expected to run the same price as Verizon's Tour, $199.99.

Earlier this month, RIM officially unveiled the BlackBerry Tour 9630, a 3G world smartphone that promises connectivity around the globe, offering support for CDMA in North America and UMTS/HSPA networks abroad. It supports 3G EV-DO Rev A. networks in North America and the 3G UMTS/HSPA and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks overseas.

RIM said the Tour will hit both Verizon and Sprint this summer, but did not offer exact dates.

The BlackBerry Tour 9630 takes design queues from two popular BlackBerry smartphones, the Curve and the Bold. Aimed at high-end users, the Tour features a black finish with chrome highlights in a sleek 112mm x 62mm x 14.2mm frame and weighs 130 grams. The Tour features a full QWERTY keyboard with chrome frets and sculpted keys and a 2.44-inch 480 x 360 resolution display.

Additional features include a 3.2-megapixel camera with flash, variable zoom, image stabilization, autofocus and video recording; a full HTML Web browser with support for streaming audio and video; an advanced media player for videos, pictures and music and a 3.5mm stereo headset jack and Bluetooth Stereo Audio Profile support.

The BlackBerry Tour also packs in 256 MB of Flash memory and offers expandable memory via a hot-swappable microSD/SDHC memory card slot to support up to 16 GB now and 32-GB cards in the future. It houses a removable and rechargeable 1400 mAhr battery offering five hours of talk time and 14 days of standby time.

BlackBerry added that the built-in GPS in the Tour will support geotagging, BlackBerry Maps and other location-based applications and services, while BlackBerry Media Sync will let users sync music from iTunes and Windows Media Player with their smartphones.

Other features include voice-activated dialing, enhanced background noise cancellation, low-distortion speakerphone and Bluetooth 2.0 support; preloaded DataViz Documents to Go, which lets users view and edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the handset; and mobile access to Facebook, MySpace and Flickr, along with instant messaging services like BlackBerry Messenger, Yahoo IM, AIM, Google Talk and Windows Live Messenger. Support for BlackBerry Internet Service also lets users access up to 10 supported personal or corporate e-mail accounts, including most popular consumer accounts.

Verizon Introduces Global 3G USB Modem

Verizon Wireless is trying to help keep globe-trotters connected with the release of a 3G USB modem that works in various countries.

The USB1000 Global Modem is a dongle that plugs into laptops to access Verizon's mobile broadband network. The modem can operate on Verizon's EV-DO Rev. A network in the United States, as well as GSM or various 3G networks in other countries. Verizon is partly owned by Vodafone and is leveraging this relationship to provide mobile broadband access across the globe.

The modem is made by Novatel Wireless and costs $150 after a mail-in rebate and a service agreement. The largest U.S. carrier provides a variety of plan options for the USB1000, including a $130 monthly option that gives users 5 GB of data in the United States and 100 MB abroad. A $220 monthly plan gives users 200 MB of data in international markets, and 5 GB of data in the United States.

Cellular carriers are placing a stronger emphasis on mobile data packages, which can provide a strong revenue stream as traditional voice revenue declines. The largest growth area is coming from smartphones such as the BlackBerry Storm, T-Mobile's G1, and the iPhone, but standalone data packages are also on the rise.

Mobile operators are diversifying the ways users can subscribe to mobile data packages as well. Along with USB dongles like the Global Modem, Verizon is selling a device that gives users a portable Wi-Fi cloud, as well as offering subsidized netbooks with 3G connections.

Latest Apple and Verizon News: More Devices!

Reports indicate Verizon Wireless and Apple may actually be discussing two new iPhone-like devices for launch as early as this summer on the Verizon network. One piece of hardware would be a simplified iPhone, with fewer features and a lower price, using CDMA network access.

The second, and arguably more interesting device is somewhere between an iPod Touch and a netbook. Dubbed the "media pad" by a source talking to BusinessWeek, this entirely new Apple hardware would also have access to the Verizon Wireless network, and have the capability to make calls using WiFi.

The source claims to have seen the device, and had these comments. "We are talking about a device where people will say, 'Damn, why didn't we do this?' Apple is probably going to define the damn category."

Can Apple redefine the wireless hardware game again? Presumably, two new hardware offerings wouldn't violate the terms of Apple's exclusive agreement with AT&T to provide network service to iPhones. However, it's possible that any new offerings would eat into the iPhone's expanding market share, as consumers realize they have other similar options with Verizon, currently the largest wireless provider in the US.

The media pad sports a large touch screen, and interactive multimedia power made possible by relatively inexpensive SoC (system-on-chip) design. High definition video, photos, and music would be playable and interaction would take place using an iPhone-like interface with touch screen and gesturing.

Questions remain as to whether Verizon Wireless and Apple can make a deal regarding iTunes and AppStore software distribution.

Finally got to check out Motorola Rival...
My first impression was that the phone was small, however it has the qwerty keyboard, and touch screen dial pad. The touch for dial pad felt good. Gives you the vibration feedback when you press the buttons. Also when you slide the keyboard out sideway, the menu, contact and message buttons are also touchable.
The qwerty keyboard was nicely spaced, however the buttons themselves required a bit more force to press compare to voyager or enV.
Nevertheless, this will be a good seller, not to mention that the price is amazing at $99.99 online. ($99.99 after the mail-in-rebate at the store)
We will see how it goes.....
